for better or for worse I am DOOMED to be a photographer…

I’ve been creating images for as long as I can remember.   My early influences while growing up in Boston come from cultural photographers like Glen E. Freidman and Eugene Smith.  Taking from them the basic rule that you can capture or create moments through the seamless understanding the mechanics of your craft and the discovery of the self.

I immersed myself in the darkrooms and studios late into the evenings.  Throughout my formal education at RIT, I absorbed most of my knowledge and creative drive from working in the equipment room and camera repair departments rather than the classrooms.

Since 2006 NYC has been my home.  It is here I find the grit and emotion that inspires my current work.  The air hums with a quiet composure of strength that I can only describe and as my own animal drive.  All emotions fall under this ideal for we cannot control our emotions but merely the way we reaction to them. It is my goal with my work to pull out these feelings, the animal within and to capture raw, gritty emotions.
